Little Felicia Evolution by Thiefoworld Little Felicia Evolution by Thiefoworld

My art through my eight years at deviantArt

2005
June 30th 2005, I joined DA and discovered Photoshop hah! All drawings prior to this one were made exclusively with traditional mediums. But then I joined DA and everything changed :B Even when incredibly lame and simple, this drawings marks the beginning of a whole new era in the history of my art, very first one to be colored digitally.

2006
I discovered vectors. God! my drawings were LAME this year :D But even so, my style changed dramatically in just one year. 2006 was the year to make everything exclusively digital.

2007
I discovered textures. I managed to make my little character's heads even bigger hah! Changed the vectors of Corel Draw for Photoshop's Pen Tool using from now on a sketch as base and then ink them digitally.

2008
Bright colors! Bright colors everywhere! Since last year I decided for some reason that my characters don't need limbs to function :P

2009
My style changed a little to reincorporate arms and legs once again.

2010
I discoreved SAI and became a blessing in the inking department. I think now I give more details to my drawings.

2011
Not sure exactly of what changed compared with last year.... maybe it's just that I'm a little quicker? :P

2012
Well what the hell happened here? ಠ_ಠ Trying new styles. I guess I'm taking more bold risks here.

2013
After a large pause of doing art just for myself, I'm back with (I think) a little more experience with backgrounds and other details, even when things like drawing scenery is still a weak point of mine.

This is a good capture of slices of time. Also, after reading your comments, a person can come to grasp quickly the advances as an artist you've made over the 6 years you've been working with digital media.

Starting in 2005 you drew pretty basically. Not to say you're actual skill level was equivalent to that. But being new to the medium hampered your already developed skill.

2006 saw some drastic changes, there is lighting, refined edges, and greater detail then previously shown.

Then in 2007 we see a throw back to sketching. Rough edges give way to even more detail though, as you incorporate background details. We can also see a step toward allowing the veiwer create the motion in their mind. Rather than trying to force motion to be seen.

2008 gives us color, eye contact, connection. Things are more laid out. We see who she is. We can connect to her.

In 2009 we gain depth. You've given her full form. Once again we go to refined edges. The colors are a little more natural. And the detail aims more at realism rather than cartoonism.

On to 2010, where great care is given to smaller details, and even greater care to lighting. The background is now fully developed, though simplistic. She gains motion and character through action that is slight but impacting. Your lighting is now dynamic, and multi-directional. We see a push towards wider color pallet as well.

Lastly, in 2011, all the previous years of work and practice have culminated into the Feefoe Art we know and love today. She is back to her horribly active self, but in still frames. You grew in your lighting technique as well. No longer the simple sun light and shadows. You make it glow. The background it full of details, as well is the foreground. True depth is captured.

Personally, though I haven't followed you since the very start, I've enjoyed watching you grow as an artist over the few years I have seen your art. It's wonderful to see you capture your growth and display it proudly. Instead of like so many artists, hiding your work in a back gallery, ashamed of the works you learned your technique on.
