deviantART is on World Tour!
$Heidi (Director of Marketing) and $spyed (co-Founder & CEO) will be hitting the open road and taking to the sky on deviantART’s first ever World Tour! The first stop was Sydney, Australia, next one was Singapore, Singapore and now they are in Warsaw, Poland. Next stop is Istambul, Turkey. Stay tunned because next city could be yours!

Please note that the guidelines for every moderator may vary, but the ones that are universal for the both of us are as follows:

Make sure the deviant hasn't received a DD in the last three months.
Send your note including a thumb to the suggested deviation and a brief explanation of why you think it should be featured.
Send your note to just one GM at the time.
We can only feature artwork from Comics & Cartoons, please suggest Fanart, Anime, Anthro or any other work pertaining to another gallery to the proper GM, you can see the complete list here




Our first 24h Hour Comic took place this month. It was an alternate version of the original 24HC, more tailored (we feel) to deviants: 24 panels instead of 24 pages, and with a choice of 1 in 2 themes: "You did WHAT?" and "Speech Bubble Crisis". Participation was small but as many people expressed interest despite being unable to enter, there will be other editions Thank you to =Rose-Rayne, *jigglysama, ~Zatona and ~vas-is-nus for taking the plunge! Their submissions are posted in this news article.

For our next community activity, we want to know what you feel like! If you haven't done so already, please take the poll.

May also saw volume I of an Almost-DDs feature in ^Thiefoworld's journal, so that suggestions that are not chosen but are still great can be properly shared. There are many reasons why a piece may not be featured as a DD. Not meeting standard is one reason but it comes up relatively rarely. Most often it is simply that the artist has already received a DD less than 3 months ago, or that they already have a number of DDS. Then there are factors that are personal to each GM. ^Cedarseed favors originality in style/contents and a solid grasp of the art of sequencing or cartooning over pieces that may be awesome but clearly attached to the dominant school of the day. As for ^Thiefoworld he seeks cartoons with visual impact and interesting concepts and comics with fresh and original storylines.

Have you ever wanted to do a little more for the community? Do you have a little free time and are willing to use it to promote CR activities? .. and more than that?

Your Comics & Cartoons Moderation Team, ^Thiefoworld and ^Cedarseed are gathering a team of members willing to help us.



There's no such thing as too much help, there's always something more that can be done, there's always an extra pimping that is always useful, and the key of the activities we do as GMs is the interaction of the community, after all without you there cannot be contests, featured chats, trivias and features! You are the heart of our work and with that in mind we want to include you in the development of them.

What we are looking for, is for members with the following:

A passion for art (not only for C&C, of course we'll focus on Comic Art but everybody is free to join)
A passion for deviantART
Community spirit
Some free time

The idea for this team is, just as the title says, you're gonna be our sidekicks! our partners in crime! You'll know in advance about the activities we'll do, you'll be the first ones to know if there is a contest coming up, maybe you can be selected to be part of the panel on a featured chat, or a judge on a contest, etc.

Just to make it clear, this doesn't mean that if you are not part of the team you cannot help us. ABSOLUTELY NOT! You are always free to pimp our news and journals and spread the word, you are always free to note us with your ideas, etc. It's just that this team will serve as a base, a group we know we can always count on.


Yes, you'll need some free time, but fear not! this doesn't mean either that you'll have to be chained down to your chair on DA. Actually it's not gonna take a lot of your time, but maybe you'll have to donate some of your journals for example, to be promoting our initiatives.

Have in mind that this will be a group of volunteers, just like us GMs, we won't demand you to do things, you'll do them if you can and while you can. You'll be free to step down from the team anytime you want (just let us know of course) and as well be free to rejoin when you can.

But at the same time we are asking for commitment, if we are selecting you is because we are expecting you to support us; if we are asking you for help is because we are sure you can do it.

This is not an "Official Group", you won't be receiving a new symbol or a sub, we cannot promise you many things, but be sure that we'll try to compensate you in some way


In short:

We are gathering a group of helpers. The members of these team will have a series of duties, privileges and responsibilities to help us in our activities, that will include being judges in contests, part of the panel on featured chats, and ambassadors by pimping our initiatives, etc. We are not asking for a lot of your time but for a lot of commitment from you, to support us and help us.

If you think you fulfill the requirements and are willing to help, send a note to both ^Cedarseed and ^Thiefoworld, with the title Team Sidekicks, explaining why you want to help us
