I miss the old symbols but...I've been a member of this community for more than 8 years, I'm certainly not the oldest member here, but I think we all can agree 8 internet years are like a short eternity, it's a lot of time and just to prove it, tell me; how many sites have you been a member of for at least 8 years? I can only name one, and that's deviantArt. Also, 8 years are the 61% of the 13 years this site as been alive, so I've been here for more than half of this site's life.
As an old member of this site, I, like a lot of you, also miss the old symbols.
As stated on the official article, there are a few things that have been part of the site for a long time, without which deviantArt wouldn't feel like deviantArt, like the characteristic green layout or the user symbols that until recently, were part of the site.
I agree it does feel weird, the symbols I grew up with, so to speak, as an artist, are
Feature: Nadiezda, peerro and lermsAmazing illustrators to add to your watchlist.
In a world where everything seems to have been already created and where originality seems to be more and more scarse, once in a while I stumble upon artists who have that... something, that spark of freshness which makes you stop from browsing and check the rest of their galleries. I think these artists deserve more recognition for the originality of their work and so in this occasion I present you what I consider three of these artists. As usual, ladies first....
*Nadiezda: A little cartoony, a like like anime except that not really.
I love the colorfulness of *Nadiezda's style, combined with a very stylized and dynamic presentation, full of textures and different forms.

Want to be the next Digital Art CV?
No, it's not that my term is about to end, I still have some months left, so sorry, you'll have to deal with me for some time yet But I figured out it's never too early to talk about this.
Some time ago, I wrote a journal in which I mentioned how there are always a lot of people wanting to become a CV one day and that's great! The problem is that many people think that you need to get the ^ symbol to start doing what a CV does, but if you have this mentality, sorry to tell you my friend, but you're already a step behind.
In reality, is before you get the symbol when you start doing "CV things" and it's precisely this what gives you a bigger chance to on
Halloween Murder Mystery: The Rules**This will be the last message regarding this particular contest that is posted outside of %Halloween-HQ. If you would like to join the contest, please keep an eye on that group for kickoff information and announcements.**
Welcome to Halloween 2013! A group of CVs and partnering community members have gathered to bring you a Halloween haunted murder mystery. We have worked extremely hard on it, and we hope you will enjoy it.
The contest will start tomorrow, 11 October 2013, and will run until 1 November at 11:59 PM Pacific time.
The role of the detectives
We will post introductory information that tells you what happened and what we would like you to do. Essentially, your job is to solve the murder in the castle. Feature: Thanks for your support! These are works from people who commented with kind, comforting words on my journal when I had such difficult moments. Thank you so much everybody, I really needed that. This is for you all!

Interview With EnchantedWhispers And TheDarkRayneI had asked both *LovesRedRose and `TheDarkRayne to participate in the series of interviews I've been doing for the month of October. Since their interviews are short, they're both related to dark and Gothic art. This being the eve of Halloween, I thought it would be good idea to post them together. Enjoy.
First, interview with EnchantedWhispers:
Q. Your art can be classified as Gothic. Would you define "Gothic" type of dark versus "Gothic” fantasy"? Also, I would like for this article to have a little bit about your own work.
In my opinion I picture Gothic art as being a work with monotone coloring and a guy or girl in dark clothing with a look of sadness, possibly in a graveyard or dark setting. Of course there are many other examples of Gothic art but this is what comes to my mind when I hear Gothic art.
Gothic fantasy art has the feeling of darkness that goes along with Gothic art but contains elements of fantasy. This could
Dani-Owergoor and Flobelebelebobele On Their ArtI had asked both =Dani-Owergoor and *Flobelebelebobele to answer direct questions about their work. Therefore, I decided to put them together in one journal since the subject of the interviews are on the same topic.
First up is =Dani-Owergoor.
Q 1. The month theme is Illumination. Would you write your point of view on what that means to you?
My point about illumination is: is not enough to be proficient in a perfect cut and finding unique images, if your work missing lighting, it doesn't draw attention.
So, can you tell me: "I don't care to attract people, I make art just for me". Who does art to itself don't publish in public places, but keeps in a folder stored on your own computer. Everyone has the desire to be better and better in your style, whatever it is, and I think all styles require good illumination, for me, this is essential, it's "the soul" of your art.</b>
Q 2. Briefly explain, and explain whatever direction you w
Some Kind of September It's September!
Firstly I want to say a huge thank you to my watchers for being patient with my over the past week or so - I've blogged like crazy with Project Educate articles and then today with Art History, but I do declare that it has calmed down somewhat. And just to prove it to you, I've written a rather mushy journal. For a change!
Over the past few months I've learned one or two things about being Happy. It's being with someone that doesn't question your crazy ideas, but simply comes up with ways of making them easier. Being with someone who will spend hours dodging rain showers to stand outside tying fine fishing wire to the handles of cups and then hooking them into trees. (Because I'm too short.) Who doesn't laugh when you suggest that next time, (because there will be a next time and a time after that) you hang biscuits too. Someone who doesn't sigh every time you stop to take a picture, someone who makes you feel comfortable enough to take a hundre

There has been a murder...
I was invited to this great event, the party of the century they called it. Everybody that matters was invited, so obviously I was there.
However a happy ending wasn't meant for this story. I don't know the details yet... but it seems that the organizer and the person who invited me is not alive anymore...
There has been a murder in the castle! But who was the victim? who did it and what exactly happened? All will be disclosed in due time.
The victim seems to be someone close to The King, so his royal highness is calling for detectives to discover this mystery.
If you're interested then I recommend you +devwatch %Halloween-HQ for the details to start this investigation will be out really soon.
Keep in Touch!
