The idea behind the Celebrating Diversity Project is to share deviations out of our area of comfort and explore art we usually don't see.

This time I wanted to show you some examples of a gallery I know many people don't know about: Stereoscopy.

Stereoscopy is the art of creating images with the illusion of depth, but unlike 3 Dimensional Art, the images in this gallery can truly pop out of your screen, if viewed correctly. There are various techniques to create these images, and some of the most common are:

Cross eyed parallels

2 almost identical images placed side by side. There are a few differences between the 2 so when you cross your eyes, you'll get the 3D effect.

Anaglyphs

Images with a chromatic filter that allows the viewer to see the 3D effect while using "3D glasses", these glasses use a different color for each eye, usually cyan and magenta.

Wiggles

Wiggles are very short animations which give the 3D effect by alternating images in slightly different angles.

Autostereograms

Which are a little more tricky to view. According to wiki: In order to perceive 3D shapes in these autostereograms, one must overcome the normally automatic coordination between accommodation (focus) and vergence (angle of one's eyes).... which doesn't tell much hah! But in short; you need to kinda lose focus and kinda cross your eyes to see these.
